Wandsworth Cleaners Modern Slavery Commitment
Wandsworth Cleaners is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical and responsible manner. We recognise that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation are serious global issues that can exist in any industry, including cleaning services and associated supply chains. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we are taking, and intend to continue taking, to prevent modern slavery within our own operations and throughout our supply chain.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Wandsworth Cleaners has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with, support, or do business with any individual or organisation that is involved in such practices. Our directors and managers are responsible for ensuring that this commitment is embedded in our organisational culture, decision-making, and day-to-day operations.
All staff, whether permanent, temporary, agency, or subcontracted, are expected to uphold this zero-tolerance stance. Compliance with this policy is a condition of employment and any breach will be treated as a serious disciplinary matter, which may result in termination of employment or contract and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of cleaning products, equipment, uniforms, facilities services, and labour agencies. We expect all suppliers and contractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to demonstrate this through their own policies, procedures, and working practices.
When engaging with new suppliers, we assess their ethical standards and require confirmation that they comply with all applicable labour laws and human rights legislation. We seek to work only with suppliers who can demonstrate transparent employment practices, including lawful recruitment, fair wages, and safe working conditions.
Wandsworth Cleaners conducts risk-based supplier audits to review compliance with our anti-slavery expectations. These audits may include document checks, site visits where appropriate, and discussions with relevant personnel. Where we identify concerns, we will work collaboratively with the supplier to address them through corrective action plans and follow-up reviews. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our requirements within a reasonable timeframe, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Employee Awareness, Training, and Responsibility
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our workforce. Managers and supervisors, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management, receive guidance on recognising indicators of exploitation, such as restriction of movement, retention of personal documents, or signs of coercion and intimidation.
Employees are informed of our zero-tolerance stance during induction and are reminded of their responsibility to act ethically, to respect the rights and dignity of colleagues, and to speak up if they have concerns. We encourage a culture in which everyone feels able to question and challenge working practices that may be unsafe, unfair, or unlawful.
Reporting Channels and Protection
Wandsworth Cleaners provides clear internal channels for reporting suspected cases of modern slavery or related misconduct. Concerns can be raised with line managers or senior management, or through designated reporting routes within the company. Reports can be made confidentially, and all concerns will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively.
We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith, whether those concerns prove to be substantiated or not. Employees, workers, and contractors are encouraged to report suspicions at the earliest possible stage so that we can take swift remedial action and, where necessary, cooperate with relevant authorities.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Modern slavery risks may evolve over time as our business and supply chains develop. Wandsworth Cleaners is committed to monitoring these risks and strengthening our controls. We review the effectiveness of our policies, procedures, and supplier engagement on a regular basis, with at least one formal review of this Modern Slavery Statement every year.
As part of the annual review, we consider audit findings, reported concerns, changes in legislation, and best practice guidance. Where appropriate, we update our approach, enhance training materials, and refine our due diligence processes. This statement reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of human rights throughout our operations and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Wandsworth Cleaners and will be updated annually to reflect our continued efforts in combating modern slavery and human trafficking.
